I will probably be purchasing a 790 in the near future and will also be purchasing a finish mower. Most people I talk to say a 72" 3 spindle is about max for the 30 horses (25 PTO) but one dealer says he has a 90" 5 spindle (Woods?) that works perfectly. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this rig. Will it have enough power?

I have a 96" Lastec 521 groomer (www.lastec.com)- 5 spindles. The mfg specifies 3 HP min / 6 HP max PTO per spindle (actually per deck). Probably best to check with Woods.
BTW, I'd have a Woods but my turf is very uneven.

Not sure if this helps or not but I have a 50 HP utility tractor with a 90" finishing mower and I would not recomend less HP. Going through deep grass I shift into 1st or 2nd. Paul

My dealer recommended 60" for a 790, I went with a commercial grade Befco.
finish mower 3ph rear mount. If you ck. out Befco.com I think they show what is recommended for pto hp. etc. They also have some other nice equipment.
I had worked on 72" commrcial Toros years ago.(good mower) if you buy cheap at any length it better be a hobbie or they won't hold up. Befco's are not cheap.
My dealer could have sold me the 72" he had in stock but ordered in a 60".
He must of had his reason's He was the General manager of the store.
